Paralysed men walk again with spinal implant - BBC News

Scientists in Switzerland have developed a spinal implant that enables people who had previously been considered permanently paralysed to walk again temporarily.
When switched on, the device boosts signals from the brain through the injured part of the spine to the legs.
It has also surprised scientists by appearing to repair nerve damage in the spinal cord.
The technology is in its infancy, but the BBC met some patients who have been trying it out.

The language only three men speak - BBC News

A dying language...
Badeshi is an almost extinct Indo-Iranian language spoken in Pakistan. In 2014 "Ethnologue, Languages of the World" stated Badeshi had not been spoken for at least three generations but in 2018 the BBC found three men who could still speak the language.

Badeshi used to be the common languages of a small mountain village in northern Pakistan - now there are only three people left who can speak it.

CES 2018: LG Display shows off large rollable TV screen- BBC News

A ROLLABLE TV?? ...

LG Display has created the world's first large, rollable, ultra-high definition screen.
The 4K display uses OLED technology, allowing it to be more flexible than a conventional LED television.

BBC North America technology reporter Dave Lee saw it in action.

Mexico quake aftermath: Over 200 dead, dozens of buildings destroyed (drone footage)

Mother Nature keeping things in perspective as usual, reminding us how small and fragile we are...

Fast Fact: 32 years ago, the 1985 Mexico City earthquake struck in the early morning of 19 September at 07:17:50 (CST) with a moment magnitude of 8.0 and a Mercalli intensity of IX (Violent). The event caused serious damage to the Greater Mexico City area and the deaths of at least 5,000 people.

More than 200 people have been killed after central Mexico was struck by a 7.1-magnitude earthquake that destroyed dozens of buildings.

Mexico: Earthquake topples buildings killing nearly 250 - BBC News


A strong earthquake has struck central Mexico, killing at least 248 people and toppling dozens of buildings in the capital, Mexico City.
President Enrique Peña Nieto said more than 20 children had died and 30 were missing after a school collapsed.
The 7.1 magnitude quake also caused major damage in neighbouring states.
